Yep Dundee wins Arnold Kemp Young Scot of the Year Award!!!!

The group won the prestigious award on Tuesday, 3rd March at a ceremony in Glasgow.

The award was presented by the Institute of Contemporary Scotland, and named in honour of the legendary journalist and former editor of The Herald, Arnold Kemp. The award was in recognition of the incredible World Aids Day held in Dundee last year, attended by young people, NHS officials, speakers from South Africa and the Minister for Public Health.

“There was nothing modest or self-effacing about the group’s ambitions. They had booked the Caird Hall, one of the biggest and most high profile venues in Dundee. Then they sent out the invitations and took to the streets to spread the word. It paid off.”

Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. And overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.
- Nelson Mandela, Make Poverty History 2005

Youth End Poverty is a youth led organisation that is committed to keeping the spirit of the Make Poverty History movement alive. We believe poverty in all its forms can be ended. Governments and businesses and all the pop stars in the world have tried and tried and still half of the human beings in this world live on less that £1 (US$2, €1.2, R14) a day.

It falls to us as young people to stand up against poverty. It falls to us as young people to demand that out governments and our society take this challenge seriousley. And it falls to us as young people to make sure we end poverty.
We are an organisation of young people from around the world that are committed to achieving the simple principal of Youth Ending Poverty.
We are Youth End Poverty, why arent you?

Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation.
- Nelson Mandela, Make Poverty History 2005

Be the change you want to see in the world.
